There is a huge choice of places to eat in Whitby to suit all taste and budgets. From fish’n’chip at the famous ‘Magpie’ restaurant, pie and mash at ‘Humble-pie’ to Thai, pizza and other quality eateries.
There are many Café’s including our favorites Sherlock’s with it Victorian decoration and light food menu, with wonderful cakes.  Also Marie Antoinette’s located near the market square with cheesecake to die for.
If you like visiting pubs you’ll be spoilt for choice in Whitby. Whether you are looking for trendy wine bars, Real Ale pubs, or bars smothered in history. A number of the pubs in Whitby, are close to the harbour with lovely views, many are in the main town streets, but wherever you are, there’s bound to be a local Whitby pub in the vicinity!
The vast majority of Whitby pubs are now serving food as well as a wide variety of beers and spirits. With an increasing demand for family friendly eateries, many of the Whitby pubs have separate dining rooms, for families or separate eating areas. Extensive menus are served in an increasing number of the public houses, and no longer is the food regarded merely as ‘pub grub’.
